ランタンの守り人

昔むかし、星のささやきを風が運ぶ小さな海辺の村に、カイロという静かな青年が住んでいました。

彼は“ランタンの守り人”として知られていて、毎晩、霧の中を航海する船たちのために、浮かぶランタンに灯りをともしていました。

でも、カイロには秘密がありました。
実はランタンたちの声が聞こえたのです。

それぞれのランタンには、世界のどこかの誰かが込めた小さな願いが宿っていて――
「愛されたい」
「癒されたい」
「勇気がほしい」
時には
「ただ、誰かにそばにいてほしい」
――そんな想いが、光になっていたのです。

カイロはそのことを誰にも話しませんでした。
ある夜、海からではなく、空からひとつのランタンが舞い降りてくるまでは。

そのランタンは、たった二言だけを囁きました。
「ぼくを、見つけて。」

その夜、カイロは風に導かれ、木々にともる光、水面に揺れる光、そして自分の心の中の光に導かれながら旅に出ました。
彼は「記憶の森」や「笑い声のこだまする街」を抜け、やがて静かな草原にたどり着きます。

そこにはひとりの少年が、最後のランタンを抱えて座っていました。
その少年の名は――リオル。
かつて「本当の自分を、誰かに見つけてほしい」と願いを込めた少年。そして、カイロはリオルを見つけました。

二人は最初、何も話しませんでした。
ただ一緒に呼吸をして、そっとランタンのあたたかな光を見つめていました。
それ以来、ふたりは一緒にランタンに火をともすようになりました。

もう、願いを追いかけるためではなく――
「誰かが、ちゃんと見つけてくれる」
その光を、そっと届けるために。

The Lantern Keepers

Once upon a time, in a small seaside village where the winds carried whispers from the stars, there lived a quiet young man named Kairo.

He was known as the Lantern Keeper—each night, he would light the floating lanterns that guided ships home through the mist.

But Kairo held a secret.
He could hear the lanterns speak.

Each one carried a small wish, sent by someone in the world—hopes of love, healing, courage, or simply the desire to not feel alone.

He never told anyone. Not even when one evening, a lantern floated down from the sky instead of up from the sea.

That night, Kairo followed the wind, guided by lanterns glowing gently in the trees, on the water, and in his heart.
He journeyed through forests of memory, cities of echoing laughter, and finally came to a quiet meadow where a boy sat alone, holding the final lantern.

It was Lior, the boy who once wrote “I wish someone would see the real me.”
And Kairo did.

They didn’t speak at first.
They just breathed together, the lantern glowing softly between them.

From that night on, they kept the lanterns together.
Not to chase after wishes…
But to remind others that sometimes, just being found is enough.
